June 2024 Recap: The Moonrise Campaign, Product Updates & More

It’s been a month of growth and exciting developments for the Moonbeam ecosystem. If you’re new here, Moonrise is a several-month-long initiative with multiple campaign integrations across our brand, tech, and product ecosystems.

Phase 1 introduced the rebranding of Moonbeam. The creative direction was inspired by the idea of photosynthesis and the concept of getting our light from the moon. We worked with a creative team to reimagine two worlds: Moonbeam as the main source of creativity and Moonriver as an inspiration to revitalize and bring these two communities even closer. Though they appeared to be separate entities, they are bound by a singular, extraordinary organism powering their very existence. This creative direction featured custom-designed 3D organisms, new foundation and token logos for Moonriver and Moonbeam, and introduced our four key pillars: DeFi, gaming, real-world assets, and the emerging market in Brazil for builders and creators alike. Phase 2 focuses on a $10 million innovation fund that will invest in projects building products aligned with these pillars, including a gaming project called N3MUS. Product Highlights

At the heart of Moonrise were groundbreaking protocol upgrades that significantly enhanced Moonbeam’s performance and scalability:

• Asynchronous Backing: Achieved 6-second block times, live on Moonriver since June 24th and on Moonbeam starting July 8th via RT3000. Following this, runtimes 3100 and 3200 will increase overall throughput by 800% on Moonriver and Moonbeam, respectively.
• Ethereum Dencun Upgrade: Moonbeam now supports Ethereum’s Dencun upgrade.
• Developer Tools: Research on Smart Wallet support is underway and will handle signatures for passkeys in upcoming releases.

Chainstack Integration: Moonbeam is now supported on Chainstack, offering the lowest latency and ultra-fast connections to a top-tier global blockchain.

Gaming Leading the Way

Gaming is a significant focus for Moonbeam, with player control, involvement, and governance being top of mind. In Web3 gaming, your assets are represented as NFTs, allowing for trade and sale, a popular and valid use case. Head of Ecosystem Sicco Naets explains how governance can integrate with Web3 Gaming to give gamers a seat at the table.

$10M Innovation Fund Announcement

We’re excited to announce the $10M Moonbeam Innovation Fund, which will drive growth across our ecosystem as part of our transformative Moonrise initiative. The fund’s first investment is in N3MUS, a gaming platform dedicated to innovating on Moonbeam. This fund will accelerate blockchain real-world use cases such as gaming and RWA and empower meaningful change. It is complemented by $1.5 million for Moonbeam ecosystem grants and $1.5 million for Moonriver grants.

Decoding DePin

We are excited to announce our first DePin project, Diode. Diode is a Web3-native, secure, and decentralized alternative to communication apps like Discord and Slack, which use centralized servers. It introduces a new approach to secure networking via open ZTNA networks.

Moonbeam Foundation Community Elections

On the governance side, the Moonbeam Foundation hosted its Treasury Council elections. The Treasury Council consists of 2 Foundation Treasury Council Members and 3 Non-Foundation Treasury Council Members. The 3 candidates (out of 7 total) with the most votes will join the Treasury Council, holding positions for 6 months starting July 2024.
