Boston, MA – June 7, 2022 – MoonbeamGo to page https://moonbeam.network/, the top destination for multi-chain applications on Polkadot, has announced an integration with the CalamariGo to page https://moonbeam.network/education/what-is-a-parachain/ parachainGo to page [object Object] and the availability of Manta’sGo to page https://www.manta.network/ native Calamari token, KMA, on MoonriverGo to page https://moonbeam.network/networks/moonriver/. Once deposited on Moonriver as xcKMA, the token can be used across Moonriver’s vibrant & growing user community, bringing users more ways to interact with Calamari across the Kusama network as well as through Ethereum-style addresses and wallets. This integration is a step toward increased privacy possibilities and tools on Moonriver and the greater Kusama ecosystem, putting Moonriver and Moonbeam at the forefront of interoperability.
Calamari is an on-chain privacy platform on the Kusama network, serving as an early, experimental version of Manta Network, where all new features will be released and tested first. Manta is built for Polkadot, building a better Web 3.0 with privacy guarantees from first principles. Manta and Calamari seek to apply Zero Knowledge cryptographic constructions to build blockchain applications, including DeFi, with end-to-end privacy guarantees and at the same time interoperable, easy-to-use, high performance, and auditable tools. With XCM, or cross-consensus messagingGo to page https://moonbeam.network/blog/xcm-on-polkadot/, these privacy-preserving tools can be made available to all connected Kusama parachains, greatly enhancing the reach for each project and possibilities for end users.
Following the launch of the integration between Calamari and Moonriver, Calamari plans to deploy MariPay & MariSwap, which support the private transfer of parachain assets and privacy-preserving swaps, respectively. This will bring Calamari uses to all XCM-enabled parachains and will be the first privacy module connection for Moonriver.
Since launching last August, Moonriver has accumulated over 19M transactionsGo to page https://moonriver.moonscan.io/ from 600K unique walletsGo to page https://moonriver.moonscan.io/chart/address, largely thanks to its ease of use and large ecosystem of DApps. Now that XCM is in common use, projects across the Kusama ecosystem have been integrating with Moonriver in order to tap into this active user base. Moonriver integrations also allow users to interact with tokens as XC-20s — a special token standard on Moonriver that lets tokens Substrate-based tokens like KMA act as an ERC-20 and be used with Ethereum-style addresses through MetaMask.
Support for XC-20sGo to page https://moonbeam.network/blog/introducing-xc-20s/ is one of the many ways Moonriver makes it easier for developers to build multi-chain applications that are accessible and easy to use, but also reach users across the Kusama ecosystem. As the various parachains continue to connect, Moonriver projects will benefit from the ability to interact with assets and messages cross-channel under the shared security of the Kusama Relay Chain.
About the Moonbeam Network
Moonbeam is an Ethereum-compatible smart contract platform on the Polkadot network that makes it easy to build natively interoperable applications. This Ethereum compatibility allows developers to deploy existing Solidity smart contracts and DApp frontends to Moonbeam with minimal changes. Like Moonriver, its sister parachain on Kusama, Moonbeam is expected to accumulate developer and user activity from the 100+ projects building DApps and protocols on the network. As a parachain on the Polkadot network, Moonbeam benefits from the shared security of the Polkadot Relay Chain and integrations with other chains that are connected to Polkadot.
