Boston, MA – August 9, 2022 – Moonbeam, the top destination for cross-chain connected applications, has announced Moonriver’s integration with Litmus, Litentry’s sister network on Kusama. Litmus’ token LIT can be deposited on Moonriver and used as xcLIT. This integration brings another XC-20 token to the Moonriver DeFi ecosystem and with it, future cases for Litmus’ decentralized identity aggregation service through XCM, Kusama’s native cross-chain capabilities.
Litmus is a decentralized identity aggregator that aims to revolutionize how people interact with data by enabling the linking of user identities across multiple networks. This provides a secure vehicle through which users manage their identities and DApps obtain real-time DID data of an identity owner across different blockchains. Litmus’ infrastructure and tools make it easy for anyone to create, publish, and share a point of view based on real data, helping to close the skill gap between professional users and common participants who struggle to make use of DID as it’s available today.
Litentry and Litmus aim to provide liquidity, interoperability, and consistency to the process of querying data across blockchains. The protocol has broad potential uses across DeFi, on-chain governance, and customized data services which will be rolled out to Moonriver as XCM continues to develop and mature.
Moonriver launched on Kusama one year ago, and since then has a leader in cross-chain interactions on Kusama, with more than a dozen XCM integrations live on the network and over $100 million in weekly cross-chain transaction volume. The Moonbeam team has also begun piloting new functionality on the Moonbase Alpha TestNet that would allow other parachains to trigger function calls on Moonriver’s (and Moonbeam’s) EVM to access all of its features from their home chains. Once live, XCM-integrated chains will be able to interact with the Moonriver EVM to execute logic trustlessly using Substrate-native logic. This would allow connected chains like Litmus to link identities across Kusama parachains and securely manage their identities with DApps that obtain real-time DID data via Litmus.
